Flint is a non-block resource used to make arrows and the flint and steel tool. Every time you harvest a block of gravel, there is a 1 in 10 chance that it will drop flint instead of a gravel block. You can continue to place and mine a single gravel block until it drops as flint, at which point the gravel is lost. The fortune enchantment increases the rate at which flint drops from gravel. It is impossible to turn flint back into gravel.

- Mining is the only way to obtain flint. Using TNT to explode gravel does not produce flint. Gravel does not drop flint when it breaks from falling onto a half block or non-solid block.
- A fortune V enchantment isn’t necessary for harvesting flint. Gravel will drop flint 100% of the time when using any tool with fortune III or higher.
- You can’t harvest flint with a silk touch enchanted tool. Using such a tool will make gravel NEVER drop flint.
